Kavi Looks Back

Kavi closes a thick, well-worn science notebook 📒 and beams. "What a term! We measured variation and sorted traits we inherit from those we learn 🧬, split changes into reversible and irreversible 🔥, peered at cells and microbes down a microscope 🔬, and followed energy as it changed form without ever being destroyed ⚡. We named the forces all around us, read balanced and unbalanced forces from the way things move ⚖️, sorted conductors from insulators 🔌, and traced rock around the rock cycle 🪨 — all tested the scientist's way: change one thing, repeat, and take the average 🧪. Let's connect the big ideas, then pass the checkpoint together — next stop, secondary!"

What your child will learn

1This term's big ideasWe built a lot of science this term! Tap each big idea to bring it back.
2Reversible or irreversible? Can the change be undone with no new substance made? If yes, it is reversible. If a brand-new substance forms, it is irreversible. Sort each one!
3Balanced or unbalanced forces? The way a thing moves tells you about the forces on it. Tap each card.
4Use what you learnedEach question links a different big idea from this term. Predict, then tap to check! Tap Next test for more.

A peek inside

Kavi winds up a toy car 🚗, lets go, and it zooms across the floor — then slowly rolls to a stop. A friend says the car's energy "ran out and disappeared." Is that right?
No — energy is never destroyed. Winding the key stored elastic energy in the spring. When Kavi let go, that became movement energy. As the car rolled, friction turned the movement into heat and a little sound that spread into the floor and the air. The energy did not vanish — it only changed form and spread out to where we can no longer use it.

Try this at home: Is iron rusting a reversible or an irreversible change?
