Kavi, the Energy Detective

Kavi pulls out a little notebook and clicks a torch on 🔦. "An energy audit is a careful check of a room to find where it wastes power — and then to propose changes that use energy more efficiently," hoots Kavi. "I look at the lights, the heating and cooling, the devices left on standby, and the gaps where warm or cool air escapes. Every bit of wasted power costs money and burns fuel for nothing. Come and be an energy detective with me — let's find it and fix it!"

A peek inside

Kavi walks into the lounge at night. The TV is 'off', but a tiny red standby light glows, and a phone charger sits plugged in and switched on. Is any power being wasted?
A standby light means the TV is not truly off — it keeps drawing a little power all night. A charger left switched on also draws power for no reason. Both are wasted power an audit would flag.
