Kavi, the Climate Helper

Kavi looks up at a hazy sky and ruffles a worried feather 🌍. "When we burn coal, oil and gas — in cars, power stations and factories — we add a gas called carbon dioxide to the air," hoots Kavi. "These gases act like a blanket around the Earth, trapping heat and slowly warming the planet. The good news? The everyday things we do — reduce, reuse, recycle and save energy — can cut that gas. Come and be a climate helper with me!"

What your child will learn

1Why the planet is warmingClimate change starts with the fuels we burn. Tap each part to see how the warming happens, step by step.
2Does it add the gas, or cut it?Every everyday choice either adds heat-trapping gas or cuts it. Tap the right box for each action!
3Pick the choice that helpsYou are in a real everyday moment. Predict the choice that cuts the gas, then tap to check. Tap Next test for more.
4The best order to cut wasteThese everyday steps cut the gas — and they work best in this order. Tap each one.

A peek inside

Kavi only needs to post one letter at the end of the street. Should Kavi take the car, or walk?
A short car trip burns petrol and sends carbon dioxide into the air. Walking there uses no fuel at all, so it adds no heat-trapping gas.

Try this at home: What happens when we burn coal, oil and gas?
