Body Systems Together

No system works alone! See how your digestive, breathing and heart systems team up to feed and power every single cell — and how your body keeps itself perfectly steady inside.

I can explain how the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems work together, and how the body keeps a steady state.

Kavi Powers a Sprint

Kavi gobbles a banana 🍌, then sprints across the whole field — and gasps, "Wow, where did all that energy come from?" Kavi discovers it took a WHOLE TEAM: "My digestive system broke the banana into fuel, my lungs breathed in oxygen, and my heart pumped blood to carry both to every tiny cell — where they burned together to make energy! ⚡ And the faster I ran, the faster my heart and lungs worked to keep me going steady. Come see how three systems work as ONE!"

What your child will learn

1One body, three systems, one teamThree big systems work together to keep every cell alive. Tap each one to see its job on the team.
2A round trip: feeding and cleaning a cellFollow oxygen and fuel IN to a cell, and the waste gas back OUT. Tap each stop in order!
3Whose job is it?Each job belongs to ONE system — but all three work together. Tap the system that does each job.
4What will the body do?Use what you know to predict. Then tap to check! Tap Next test for more.

A peek inside

Kavi eats a banana and then runs a lap. Name the THREE body systems that worked together to give Kavi the energy to run, and what each one supplied.
The digestive system broke the banana down into nutrients — the fuel. The respiratory system (the lungs) took in oxygen from the air. The circulatory system (the heart and blood) carried the nutrients and the oxygen to Kavi's muscle cells, where they were burned together to release energy.

Try this at home: Which three body systems work together to keep your cells alive?
