A claim is only as strong as the evidence behind it — a champion checks that the pattern fits, that only one thing changed, and that no other cause is hiding, before concluding.

Kavi Returns to the Olympiad Lab

Kavi pins a new claim to the lab wall 📌: "Steeper ramps make cars roll farther." "Not so fast," says Kavi 🦉. "At the Olympiad we never trust a claim until the evidence earns it. Does the pattern fit? Was it a fair test — only one thing changed? Could another cause be hiding? Put on your lab coat 🥼 — let's judge the evidence like champions."

A peek inside

The same car was rolled down two ramps. Only the surface changed — smooth: 80 cm, rough: 30 cm. Claim: a smooth surface has less friction. Does the evidence support it?
Only one thing changed — the surface. The car rolled farther on the smooth ramp, which fits 'less friction'. Nothing else could explain it, so the evidence supports the claim.
