Challenge: Data Detective
Find the rule the data follows — then predict what comes next, and catch the one point that breaks it!

read a data pattern, use the rule to predict the next value, and spot the anomaly — the one point that breaks the pattern and needs a closer look.

📖
Detective Kavi Reads the Data
Kavi opens a leaf diary 🕵️🍃. "Week 1 had 2 leaves, week 2 had 4, week 3 had 6… I spot a rule — it adds 2 every week! So week 4 should be 8, and week 5…?" Kavi grins. "A data detective finds the rule, uses it to predict what's next — and keeps an eye out for the one odd number that breaks the pattern. Let's investigate!"

2Kavi's leaf-count chartEach week Kavi counts the leaves and draws a bar. Look — the bars climb by the same step every week. Can you spot the rule?

A peek inside
Leaves each week: 2, 4, 6, 8. If the pattern continues, how many leaves will week 5 have?
Each week adds 2 leaves — that's the rule. So after 8, I add 2 more: 8 + 2 = 10.
Try this at home: Leaves each week: 2, 4, 6, 8. If the pattern continues, how many leaves in week 5?
