Investigate: Bones, Muscles and Joints
Feel your own bones and muscles, test how a joint lets stiff bones bend, then measure and record it like a scientist!

📖
Kavi the Body Scientist
Kavi presses the arm and feels something hard inside 🦴. "That's a bone — stiff as a stick!" Then Kavi squeezes the soft, squishy part 💪. "And that's a muscle!" Kavi folds the arm at the elbow. "A bone can't bend… so what folds? A joint! Today we won't just look — we'll measure with a tool and record what we find in a table and a bar chart. Let's investigate!"

What your child will learn
1Feel your bones, muscles and jointsPress and squeeze your own arm! Three things work together to help you move. Tap each one.
2How does a stiff bone bend?Use what you felt to predict. Then tap to check! Tap Next test for more.
3Our elbow-bend chartWe timed 10 seconds and counted how many times each friend could bend their elbow. Then we drew a bar for each. The taller the bar, the more bends!
4How a scientist measures and recordsReal scientists don't just guess — they measure and write it down. Follow the steps, tap each one.

A peek inside
Kavi presses the hard part of the arm 🦴 and tries to bend it in the middle of the bone. It won't bend! What lets the arm fold?
A bone is stiff and cannot bend. The joint at the elbow lets the two stiff bones fold together.
Try this at home: Is a bone hard or soft?
