Kavi Chases Its Shadow

Early in the morning Kavi steps into the sunshine and spots a long dark shape stretching far across the grass 🌅. "That's my shadow!" By lunchtime Kavi looks again — the shadow has shrunk to a tiny patch under its feet ☀️! "Whoa — same me, but my shadow keeps changing. Let's investigate how shadows get long, short and shaped!"

A peek inside

The Sun is low in the early morning 🌅. Kavi stands on the grass. Is Kavi's shadow long or short?
A low Sun sends its light at a slant, which stretches the shadow out across the ground.

Try this at home: When the Sun is low in the sky (morning or evening), are shadows long or short?
