Investigate: Light and Shadows
Do we need light to see? Make a shadow, then move the torch and watch it grow!

observe and record that we need light to see, and that moving a light closer makes a shadow bigger and farther makes it smaller.

📖
Kavi's Growing Shadow
Kavi turns off every light and the room goes black 🌑 — "I can't see a thing!" Then Kavi clicks on a torch 🔦 and shines it at a toy block. A dark shadow jumps onto the wall! Kavi steps the torch closer — the shadow grows BIGGER. Kavi steps it back — the shadow shrinks smaller. "Let's be scientists," says Kavi, "predict, test, and record what we see!"

What your child will learn
1Set up our shadow testOur question: do we need light to see, and what changes a shadow's size? Here is what we need. Tap each part.
2Predict, then check!Scientists guess first, then test. Predict what will happen — then tap to see. Tap Next test → for more!
3Torch close vs torch farSame block, same wall — only the torch moves. Tap each card.
4Bigger or smaller?A scientist records the result of each test. Put each move in the right box.
🔍
A peek inside
The lights are all off 🌑. Can Kavi see the toy block?
Predict: with no light, nothing reaches our eyes. Test: look in the dark — we see nothing. Record: write 'no light = can't see'.
Try this at home: The room is completely dark. Can you see a toy? Say why.
