Kavi and the Mystery Shadow

Kavi switches off the lamp and the room goes dark 🌑. Then Kavi's torch 🔦 makes a bright circle of light — and when Kavi lifts one wing, a dark wing-shaped patch appears: a shadow! "A shadow shows up when something blocks the light," whispers Kavi. "Which things make shadows? Let's predict and test!"

1What makes a shadow? Our question: which things make a shadow? Every shadow has three parts. Tap each one.
2Shadow or no shadow?Shine a torch at each thing. Predict what will happen — then check!
3Blocks light or lets it through?A scientist records what the tests show. Put each thing in the right box.
4Light and shadowWhere light is blocked, we get a shadow. Where there is no light at all, it is dark! Tap each card.

A peek inside

Will a teddy bear 🧸 make a shadow when a torch shines on it?
Predict: the bear is solid, so light cannot go through. Test: shine the torch 🔦 — a bear-shaped dark patch appears. Conclude: it blocks light.
