Kavi Cracks the Hardest Puzzle 🦉
A note flutters down: "8 heads, 22 legs — how many rabbits?" Kavi tilts her head. "A hard problem is never one big jump," she hoots. "It is a plan plus a few small, honest steps. If I pick the right strategy — units, an assumption, or a before-and-after anchor — even the scariest puzzle unfolds ⚡."

What your child will learn
1Every hard problem bends to the same four stepsChampions don't guess — they follow a plan. First understand the story, then plan which model fits, then solve one clean step at a time, then check the answer back in the story. Tap each step to hear it.
2Draw units, find ONE unit, then build the answerWhen a problem says "so many times as many" or gives a ratio or equal groups, picture equal units. Find what 1 unit is worth, and everything else is just units × that value.
3Assume all one kind, then swap to fix the gapTwo kinds mixed together — chickens and rabbits, 10¢ and 20¢ coins, right and wrong answers? Suppose they are ALL one kind. Your total will be off. The size of the gap tells you exactly how many to swap.
4Hunt for the thing that STAYS THE SAMEWhen amounts change — someone gives money away, years pass, apples are eaten — don't panic. Find the part that does not change (the invariant) and use it as a bridge between the before-picture and the after-picture.

A peek inside
Units. 4 identical crates of mangoes weigh 52 kg in all. How heavy are 7 crates?
1 crate = 52 ÷ 4 = 13 kg; then 7 crates = 7 × 13 = 91 kg
Try this at home: Units: 4 pens cost $12. How much do 9 pens cost? __
