Kavi's Speed Triangle 🏁

A train leaves the station at 60 km every hour 🚆. "That's its speed," hoots Kavi. "If I know the speed and the time, I can find how far it goes — speed × time. And if a slower friend is ahead, I only catch up as fast as I gain each hour. One triangle, three questions 🏁!"

What your child will learn

1Distance = speed × timeA train travels 60 km every hour — that is its speed, 60 km/h. Start at 0 and tap Hop +60 → once for each hour that passes. Watch the distance grow in equal jumps.
2Reading TIME and SPEED from the tableEach lit number is how far the train has gone after 1, 2, 3… hours: 60, 120, 180, 240…. To find the time, just count the hops. How far after 3 hours? And how many hours to reach 240 km?
3Who is faster? Speed = distance ÷ timeTo compare two travellers fairly, work out each speed = distance ÷ time. In the same 2 hours, who covers more ground? Tap each card.
4Catch-up = gap ÷ gainWhen one traveller is ahead, the one behind catches up only as fast as they gain each hour. Catch-up time = gap ÷ gain per hour. Tap each card.

A peek inside

A car travels at 50 km/h for 3 hours 🚗. How far does it go?
distance = speed × time = 50 × 3

Try this at home: Distance: speed 60 km/h × time 2 h = __ km
