Kavi's Market Boxes 📦

Kavi is stacking market boxes. "These sixes, sevens, eights and nines are the trickiest tables — so let's know them by heart," hoots Kavi. "And when a number gets big, like 14 × 6, I split it: 10 × 6 and 4 × 6, then add. Two easy times beat one hard one!"

What your child will learn

1Chant the sixesNo pictures — just know them. Count in sixes and the whole table lights up: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60.
2Hops of nineThe nine table looks hard, but each hop is just a group of 9. Start at 0 and tap Hop +9: 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54 — that is 6 × 9.
3Split the 2-digit numberTo multiply 14 × 6 the clever way, first split 14 into its tens and ones. Use the + and − buttons to build 14 = 1 ten and 4 ones.
4Times each part, then addHere is 14 split into 10 + 4. To find 14 × 6, multiply each part by 6, then add the two answers together.

A peek inside

Kavi needs 7 × 8 — a tricky fact! 📦
Count on in eights: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56 — that is seven eights
