Kavi's Two Rows of Signposts 🪧
Kavi flies over a long path. Small signposts mark every ten — 70, 80, 90 🪧 — and tall ones mark every hundred — 300, 400 🗼. "I'm standing on 73," says Kavi. "The nearest small signpost is 70!" Then Kavi looks up: "And the nearest tall signpost to 347? That's 300!"

What your child will learn
1The nearest ten signpostThe tens are the signposts: 0, 10, 20. Every other number sits between two tens. To round to the nearest 10 means hop to the closest signpost. Tap Hop +10 to travel signpost to signpost.
2Let the ones digit decideYou don't need the number line every time. To round to the nearest 10, just look at the ones digit. Build 73: the ones digit is 3. Tap the 1s buttons and watch the ones change.
3Rounding to the nearest 100For the nearest 100, look at the tens digit instead. Build 347: hundreds 3, tens 4, ones 7. The tens digit is 4 — that's what decides. Tap the 10s buttons to watch the tens change.
4Which hundred is nearer? The bright numbers are the hundreds you can land on. Any number in between rounds to its closest bright number: 310, 320, 340 round back to 300; 360, 370, 390 round up to 400.
