I can name 2D shapes by their sides and corners, and find lines of symmetry and straight/curved lines.

📖
Kavi's Folding Trick 🦋
Kavi counts the edges of a sign. "Three straight sides and three corners — that's a triangle!" Then Kavi folds a paper butterfly right down the middle. "Look — both halves match exactly! That fold line is a line of symmetry." Kavi hoots: "Let's name shapes, spot straight and curved lines, and hunt for fold lines that match!"
🎓
What your child will learn
1Count the sides and cornersName a flat (2D) shape by counting its sides (the straight edges) and its corners (where two sides meet). A triangle has 3 sides, 3 corners; a square and a rectangle have 4; a pentagon has 5; a hexagon has 6. Tap a shape to hear its name.
2Straight lines or curved lines?
3Find the line of symmetryA line of symmetry is a fold line that splits a shape into two matching halves. Fold it on that line and the two sides land right on top of each other. Tap each card to see the clue!

A peek inside
A flat shape has 4 straight sides and 4 corners, and all 4 sides are the same length. What is it?
4 equal straight sides + 4 corners → square
Try this at home: A shape has 3 straight sides and 3 corners. What is it?
