Mia and the mango plate

At the market, Mia puts 3 mango pieces on a plate. Ben asks, 'What if we had double?' Mia tries it and gets 6. Later Mia solves a sum fast, but her answer is wrong. Ben takes longer, and his answer is right. How can Mia tell which way is better? By the end I can ask a what-if question, compare two ways, make my way better, and explain it.
