Ayu and the Clock

Ayu wakes up at 7 in the morning. She blinks, brushes her teeth and walks to school. Her brother asks how long each job takes. He also asks what the clock says. Ayu does not know yet. She wants to learn how to tell. Ayu will use the clock, the day strip and time units to answer him. By the end I can order time units, read the clock to five minutes and sort morning from night.

A peek inside

Ayu brushes her teeth. Is it seconds, minutes or hours, and which unit is longest?
Brushing teeth takes about 2 minutes.
A second is too short and an hour is too long.
Order the three: second, minute, hour.
So it is minutes, and the hour is the longest.

Try this at home: Ayu brushes her teeth. Is it seconds, minutes or hours, and which unit is longest?
