Mei and the cracker tray

Mei helps at the market stall. Her tray holds round crackers, square crackers and one half-moon cracker. Her little brother asks, 'Which cracker has the most corners?' Mei does not know how to tell. She looks at the edges and the sharp points. Some edges are flat and some bend. By the end I can count sides and corners, tell straight from curved, and name shapes.

A peek inside

A roti canai is folded into a triangle. How many sides and corners does it have?
Trace each side in a colour: 1, 2, 3.
Dot each corner where two sides meet: 1, 2, 3.
The counts match because each corner sits between two sides.
So the roti has 3 sides and 3 corners.

Try this at home: A roti canai is folded into a triangle. How many sides and corners does it have?
