The basket at the market

Mei and Wei stand at the market. A big basket of rambutans sits on the table. Wei says, 'There are 90!' Mei looks again and says, 'I think fewer.' They count in tens and find 40. How can a quick look give a good guess before we count? By the end I can make a good guess, count to check it, and say if an answer makes sense.

A peek inside
