I can find the growing step in a sequence and continue the pattern.

📖
Kavi's Hopping Stones 🪨
Kavi hops across stepping stones numbered 2, 4, 6, 8 🪨. "Every hop feels the same size," says Kavi. "4 take away 2 is 2 — so the step is +2, and it stays +2 the whole way!" Kavi grins: "Once I know the step and it's always the same, I can hop to the next stone without even looking — it's 10!"
🎓
What your child will learn
1How big is one hop? Each arc is one hop along the line. Follow Kavi from 0 — every hop here is +2. The size of the hop is the step of the pattern.
2Check every hop matchesHere the hops are bigger. Measure the first hop, then the next, then the next — are they all the same size? Each arc is labelled, so you can check.
3Find the step, then keep goingNo hops drawn now — just the numbers: 4, 8, 12 … The gap between each pair is the same. Find it once, then keep adding it!
🔍
A peek inside
Kavi hops along stones 2, 4, 6, 8 🪨. How big is each hop, and what number comes next?
4 − 2 = 2, so the step is +2. 8 + 2 = 10
Try this at home: What is the growing step? 4, 6, 8, 10 → step is __
