Kavi Shares the Snacks

Kavi set out acorns for two friends. "Do they have the same?" One friend had 🌰🌰🌰🌰🌰 and the other 🌰🌰🌰. Kavi matched them up, one acorn to one acorn — and two were left over! "This row has more," said Kavi. "Matching tells the truth, even when my eyes are fooled."

What your child will learn

1Match them up to compareTo compare two groups, match one from each, like a pair. Whichever row has leftovers has more; the other has fewer. If none are left over, they are equal. Tap each row to hear it.
2The taller bar has moreLine the two groups up as bars. The taller bar has more; the shorter has fewer. If the bars are the same height, the groups are equal.
3When none are left over, they are equalSometimes matching leaves nobody over — every one on the left pairs with one on the right. Then the two groups are equal: the same number. Tap each row and check.

A peek inside

Row A has 🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦🟦 (6) and Row B has 🔺🔺🔺🔺 (4). Which row has more?
match 4 pairs; Row A has 2 left over → 6 > 4

Try this at home: Row 1 has 7 stars, Row 2 has 4 stars. Which row has more?
