Kavi and Friends Make One Owl Page

Kavi and three friends wanted to make one big info page all about owls. "We could each make our own page," said Kavi, "but then the facts would be scattered in four places." So instead they made one shared page — a group wiki — that everyone could add to. First they agreed the topic and split it into sections: what owls eat, where owls live, owl sounds, and owl babies. Each friend claimed one section, so nobody typed over anyone else's work. They each wrote their facts in their own words and added where they found them. Then they read each other's sections, fixed one mistake together, and tidied the headings. "Four friends, one page," Kavi hooted. "That is collaborating!"

What your child will learn

1What is on one shared info pageA group wiki is one shared page that several people build together — not four separate pages. Everyone adds to the same page. Tap each part to hear its job.
2Four own pages, or one shared page? You could each make your own page — but then the same facts get repeated, and a reader must open four pages to learn it all. On one shared wiki page the facts live in one place, in clear sections, with no repeats. Tap each card to compare.
3How a group builds one wiki pageCollaborating on a shared page follows steps in order. Press ▶ Run and watch Kavi and friends build one owl page together.
4Good ways to share one pageOn a shared page your choices affect everyone. Sort each action: is it a good way to work together, or not fair / risky for the group?

A peek inside

Four friends will make one shared page about owls. Before anyone starts typing, what should they do FIRST?
split the page into sections so two people don't write the same thing
