Kavi Picks Who Can See

Kavi made a lovely drawing on a tablet and tapped Post. Up popped a little box: "Who can see this?" There were three buttons — Only me, Friends, and Everyone. "Oh! I get to choose," said Kavi. For the happy drawing, Friends felt just right. But the next photo showed Kavi's front door and house number. "That one I'll keep to Only me," Kavi said. "Grandma says: before I post, I check who can see it." That little box is called a privacy setting — and the smart kid always looks at it first.

What your child will learn

1The privacy setting and its choicesA privacy setting is the control where you choose who can see your post, photo or profile. Tap each choice to hear who it lets in.
2Everyone, or just friends? The same photo can be seen by the whole world, or by only the people you choose. Tap each card to hear the difference.
3Who should get to see this? Some things could help a stranger find you — keep those to only me or your family. Other things can't be used to find you, so they are okay to make public. Tap the right box for each one.
4A photo shows your house numberKavi is about to post a photo — and it clearly shows the house number by the front door. Predict the safest setting, then reveal.
