Kavi Makes a Booklet for the Little Ones

Kavi was asked to make a booklet about the school playground — for the youngest class. "First I think about who will read it," said Kavi. "The little ones like short words and big pictures!" Kavi planned the pages: a cover page with the title, then one page for the swings, one for the slide, one for the sandpit. Each page got a heading, a sentence, and a picture the little ones would love. "A document made for its readers is a good document," Kavi hooted — and pressed Save.

What your child will learn

1What makes a document for its readersA longer document is split across more than one page. When you make one for an audience — the people who will read it — you shape every part to suit them. Tap each part to hear its job.
2Made for anyone, or made for an audience? The same facts can be shown in different ways. A document made for a known audience uses words they understand and pictures they like, so it is clearer and more enjoyable for them.
3How to make a multi-page documentMaking a longer document is a little program — steps in order. Press ▶ Run and watch Kavi build a booklet for the little ones.
