Kavi Teaches the Class About Butterflies

Kavi wanted to teach the class something new, so Kavi made a short slideshow — slides shown one after another. First Kavi picked one topic: butterflies. The first slide was a title: All About Butterflies. The next slides each held one idea with a few big words and a matching picture: "Butterflies start as caterpillars," then "Butterflies have wings," then "Butterflies drink nectar from flowers." "Every fact must be really true," Kavi said, "or I am not teaching — I am just making things up." Kavi checked each one, then clicked through the slides and talked about each. "That is a slideshow that teaches something!"

What your child will learn

1What a teach-something slideshow needsA slideshow that teaches is a few slides shown in order about one topic. It opens with a title slide, then each slide shows one true idea with a few big words and a matching picture — and you end by showing it and talking. Tap each part to hear its job.
2Teaches clearly, or just confuses?A slideshow teaches when every idea is true and each slide is clear — one idea, a few big words, a matching picture. If facts are made up or slides are crammed with tiny text, it does not teach, it confuses. Tap each card to compare.
