Kavi Shows the Class About Owls

Kavi wanted to tell the whole class about owls — not on one page, but on slides shown one after another on the big screen. On the first slide Kavi put a title: All About Owls. On the next slide Kavi wrote just one idea — "Owls fly at night" — with a few big words and a picture of an owl. "If I cram too many tiny words, no one can read it," Kavi said. So each slide held one idea, a few big words, and a picture. When it was ready, Kavi stood up, clicked through the slides, and talked about each one. "That," Kavi hooted proudly, "is how you make a presentation!"

What your child will learn

1What goes on one clear slideA presentation is made of slides shown one after another. A clear slide holds a short title, just a few big words, and a picture — and a way to go to the next slide. Tap each part to hear its job.
2Crowded slide, or clear slide?A slide stuffed with tiny words and many ideas is hard to read from across the room. A clear slide keeps one idea, a few big words, and a matching picture — so everyone can read it while you talk. Tap each card to compare.
3How to make a presentationMaking a presentation is a little program — steps in order. Press ▶ Run and watch Kavi build a clear set of slides, then show them.

A peek inside

Put these in order to make a presentation: add a picture · make the title slide · put one idea on a slide · show it and talk.
name the topic first, then one idea per slide, then a matching picture, then present

Try this at home: A set of slides you show one after another is called a ____.
