Kavi Looks Back on Term 2

"Look how much you learned this term!" Kavi cheered, flapping proudly. "You can test a program, find the bug 🐛 and fix it — that's debugging. You know a network joins devices together so they can share. You can sort data into groups so it is easy to see. And when a device goes wrong, you can do a few simple fix-it checks instead of giving up. Let's look back at all four big ideas together, then show what you remember!"

What your child will learn

1Remember: Test → Find the bug → Fix itA bug is a mistake in a program. When a program does the wrong thing, coders follow three steps, round and round, until it works. Tap each step to remember it.
2One device alone, or joined in a network?A network joins devices together so they can share — with wifi or a cable. On its own, a device can only talk to itself. Tap each card to remember the difference.
3Sort things into groups to see them clearlySorting means putting things into groups so the data is easy to see and count. Tap the right box for each one.
4The screen is black — what do we check first? When a device goes wrong, do a few simple checks before giving up. Predict the best first check, then reveal.

A peek inside

Kavi runs a program and the robot bumps the wall instead of reaching the star. A mistake in a program is called a ____.
