Kavi's Drawing Comes Back

Kavi drew a bright rocket on the tablet, then tapped the little Save button — bloop! "Where did my rocket go?" Kavi wondered. "Into storage," said Grandma Owl. "Storage is a safe place inside the device that keeps your files for later." That night Kavi turned the tablet right off. In the morning Kavi tapped the drawing open — and there was the rocket, exactly as before! "Storage kept it while I slept!" Kavi cheered. Storage holds your saved files so they are still there later — even after the device is turned off. But work you never save is not in storage, so it can be lost.

What your child will learn

1In storage, or not saved yet? When you save your work, it goes into storage — a safe place inside the device. Work you have not saved yet is not in storage, so it can be lost if you close the app or turn the device off. Tap each card to compare.
2Kept in storage, or can be lost?Files you saved are kept in storage and stay for later. Work you did not save is not in storage yet, so it can be lost. Tap the right box for each one.
3Turn it off without saving — then what?Kavi wrote a story but did not tap Save. Then Kavi turned the tablet off. Predict what Kavi finds when the tablet turns back on, then reveal.
