📖
Kavi Reads the Snack Chart
At snack time, Kavi's friends picked their favourites, and the computer drew a bar chart to show it. "Each tall bar means more picked it," said Kavi. "The number on top tells me exactly how many!" Kavi found the tallest bar for the most, the shortest for the least, and even worked out how many more chose apples than bananas. "A chart lets me find the answer just by looking!" Kavi hooted.

What your child will learn
1Taller bar, bigger numberA bar chart shows how many with bars. The taller the bar, the more there are — and the number on top tells you exactly how many. Look: apples has the tallest bar, so apples got the most votes.
2Read the exact numberTo find an answer, look at the bar and read the number on top. Read this chart, work it out in your head, then reveal to check.
3Tallest bar, or shortest bar?In a bar chart the TALLEST bar is the MOST and the SHORTEST bar is the LEAST. Read each bar and tap the right box.
