Kavi's Robot Just Froze

Kavi said to the little robot, "Go get my book!" — but the robot just stood still. "Oh!" laughed Kavi. "A robot can't guess. It does exactly what I say, one clear step at a time. 'Go get it' is too fuzzy!" So Kavi tried again: "Walk 3 steps. Turn right. Pick up the book." And the robot moved! Let's learn to give clear, one-step instructions.

What your child will learn

1Fuzzy instructions, or clear onesA fuzzy instruction makes the robot freeze — it can't guess. A clear instruction says exactly one thing to do. Tap each one to hear it.
2Can a robot follow this?A clear instruction is one small action the robot can do. A fuzzy one is too big or needs guessing. Tap the right box for each.
3A robot does exactly what you sayA robot follows one clear step at a time, in order. Each line below is one small action the robot can do — no guessing needed. Press Run and watch Kavi's robot reach the acorn.
