Kavi Takes a Side

"A debate isn't a shouting match," said Kavi. "I make a claim — what I think. I back it with a reason (because…) and then evidence anyone can check. After that I answer the other side fairly: 'Some say… but…' Claim, reason, evidence, and a fair reply — that's how you win with your thinking, not your volume!"

What your child will learn

1Kavi's point: give us longer breaksTap each line to hear it. Notice the shape: a claim, then a reason (because…), then evidence you can check, then an answer to the other side (Some say… but…), and a short recap.
2Claim → reason → evidence → answer the other sideBuild your point in order. State your claim, give the reason (because…), back the reason with evidence anyone can check, then name the other side's view and reply to it fairly.

A peek inside

Watch me back a claim. My claim is "Our school should have longer breaks." Which backing is stronger?
(a) "Longer breaks are just better, trust me."
(b) "Because a short rest helps us focus — a survey of 200 pupils found 8 in 10 concentrate better afterwards."
