compose two or three linked sentences on a topic — a first idea, then one that adds more about the same thing

📖
Kavi Adds Another Sentence
"One sentence can start an idea," said Kavi, "but two or three sentences can tell a whole little story! The trick is to stick to one topic — say a first idea, then add more about the same thing. Let's write some together."

What your child will learn
1All about my catTap each line to hear it. Notice how every sentence is about the same topic — my cat. The first names the idea, and the next ones add more about it.
2Start an idea, then add morePick one topic. Write a first sentence about it, then one or two more that add MORE about the same thing.
3First sentence: "I have a dog."
🔍
A peek inside
Watch me add a sentence. My topic is my bag. First idea: "I have a new bag." Now I add MORE about the same bag: "It is blue." Both sentences are about one thing. What is my topic?
topic = my bag → first idea → add more about the bag
Try this at home: First sentence: 'I have a red ball.' Add one sentence that sticks to the topic.
