Kavi Spots a Fake Video

Kavi sees a video of a famous singer saying something shocking — and it looks real! But it is only on one stranger's account. Kavi slows down: this could be a deepfake — an AI-made clip of a real person. He won't trust it until he checks the source, so he looks at her real verified account and the trusted news… nothing there. Caught it — Kavi named a deepfake and checked its source before believing a single second.

A peek inside

I see a video of a real footballer saying he is quitting — posted by an account I don't know. How do I handle it?
First I NAME it: this could be a deepfake — an AI-made clip of a real person. I don't trust it just because the face looks right, because AI can copy a face and a voice. Then I check the source: is it on his real verified account? Do trusted news channels report it? It's only on one unknown account and nowhere else — a red flag.

Questions parents ask

+What is a deepfake?

A deepfake is a video, photo or voice recording that AI has made or changed to show a real person saying or doing something they never really did. The AI copies the real person's face or voice, so it can look and sound almost real.

+How do you check the source of a clip?

Find where the clip first came from, see if the real person's own verified account or a trusted news site shows the same thing, and be careful if it only appears on one unknown account and nowhere trusted.

+Can you always tell a deepfake just by looking?

No. Good deepfakes can look very convincing, so looking is not enough. Clues like odd blinking or lips that don't match the words can help, but the reliable step is to check the source.

+Is every AI-made picture a deepfake?

No. A deepfake copies a real, identifiable person. An AI picture of an imaginary creature is AI-made but it is not a deepfake, because it does not imitate a real person.

+What age is this 'Name a Deepfake' lesson for?

It is a Stage 6 lesson for roughly ages 11–12 in KAVI Academy's AI-literacy track. It builds on earlier lessons about checking a trusted source and catching confident AI mistakes.
