Kavi Owns Her Poster

Kavi the owl made a bright fact-poster with AI for class. Reading it over, she spots a wrong date! "I could just say 'the AI wrote it, not me'," she hoots — "but it's my poster. I own the result." So Kavi checks the facts, fixes the date, adds her own ideas, and tells her class, "AI helped me — and I made sure every word is right." When a friend asks, "Are you sure?" Kavi smiles: "Yes. I checked it myself." That's owning what you make.

A peek inside

I made a poster with AI and spotted a wrong date on it. What does it mean to own this result?
Owning it means I don't shrug and say 'the AI wrote it.' It's MY poster. So I check the facts, fix the wrong date myself, add my own ideas, and I'm honest that AI helped. Then if anyone asks, I can say, 'yes, I checked it.'

Questions parents ask

+What does it mean to 'own the result' of AI work?

It means you answer for what you make, even though AI helped. Owning it has five habits: you CHECK it (read it, make sure it's true and kind), you FIX what the AI got wrong, you MAKE IT YOURS (add your own ideas and voice), you are HONEST that AI helped, and you STAND BEHIND it — ready to say 'yes, I checked this.' The tool helped, but the work is yours to answer for.

+Is 'the AI did it, not me' a fair excuse?

No. You chose to use the tool, and you chose to hand the work in, so the result is yours. If it has a wrong fact or an unkind line, owning it means fixing it — not passing the blame to the computer. Learning this early is how children use AI responsibly instead of hiding behind it.

+Should a child say when AI helped them?

Yes. Being honest that AI helped is part of owning the result. A child can make something truly their own — their ideas, their checking, their choices — and still say plainly, 'AI helped me make this.' Honesty about how it was made is part of answering for it.
