Iterate the Prompt
Your first prompt rarely lands. Look at what the AI made, spot the one thing that's off, add it to your prompt, and try again — until the result matches what you pictured.

Kavi's Three Tries
Kavi the owl typed "draw a dog" into a picture AI. Up popped a plain brown dog. "Close," said Kavi, "but I wanted it funny." She didn't start over — she looked at what she got, saw the one thing missing, and added it: "draw a funny cartoon dog." Better! Still no skateboard, though. One more change: "draw a funny cartoon dog riding a skateboard." Purr-fect. "Look, read, change one thing, try again," hooted Kavi — "that's how you make a prompt better!"

Questions parents ask
+What does it mean to iterate on a prompt?
It means you don't expect the first prompt to be perfect. You read what the AI made, spot the one thing that's off, add that detail to your prompt, then try again. Each try is a new version of the prompt that gets you closer to what you pictured.
+How do you know what to change in your next prompt?
Look at the result. The result shows you exactly what the prompt was missing — the wrong colour, too long, a name spelled wrong. You add that missing detail to your prompt and try again, keeping the parts that already worked.
+Should you start over or refine when the first result is wrong?
Refine. Keep the parts that worked and change just the one thing that was off. Throwing everything away and typing a random new prompt wastes what you already learned from the first result.
+Why not just type the same prompt again?
If you change nothing, the AI gives almost the same thing — so nothing improves. To get a better result you have to change the prompt: add a detail, set the length, or name the exact words you want.
+What age is this 'Iterate the Prompt' lesson for?
It is a Stage 5 lesson for roughly ages 10–11 in KAVI Academy's AI-literacy and creating-with-AI track. It uses ordering, sorting and pick-the-better-prompt puzzles with light reading.
+Is the lesson free?
Yes — this overview and the printable PDF handout are free. The full interactive lesson and the endless practice are part of KAVI Academy.
