Kavi Helps a Friend

Kavi the owl's friend Pip is home sick and feeling sad. "I could use AI just for my OWN games," hoots Kavi, "but Pip needs cheering up!" So Kavi points the tool at helping someone else: together with Mum she makes Pip a bright get-well card and a gentle joke. She's kind — nothing teasing — and honest: "AI helped me design it!" Pip grins. "You used AI to serve me," he says. "That's the kindest kind of help."

A peek inside

My friend is home sick and feeling sad. How could I use AI to serve her?
Serving others means pointing the tool at helping someone else — kindly. Instead of only using it for my own games, I use it to help HER: I ask AI to help me design a cheerful get-well card and a gentle joke she'd like. The help is for her, and it's kind.

Questions parents ask

+What does it mean to use AI to 'serve others'?

It means pointing the tool at helping someone ELSE — a friend, a family member, a classmate or a neighbour — not only helping yourself. For example, using AI to make a get-well card for a sick friend, to translate a letter for a grandparent, or to explain a hard idea so a classmate understands. You do it kindly and honestly, and you stay in charge of the help.

+Is it wrong to use AI just for myself?

No — using AI for your own fun or learning is fine. 'Serving others' is a different, kind thing you can ALSO do: choosing to point the tool at helping someone else. A child who learns to do this uses AI not just to help themselves, but to help the people around them too.

+How can a child be kind when using AI?

Three simple habits: (1) Use it to help, never to tease, trick or embarrass anyone. (2) Be honest — if AI helped you make something for someone, say so. (3) Still steer — you choose who to help and check the result is actually helpful and true. Helping a classmate understand an idea serves them; giving them answers to copy does not.
