Kavi's Honest Report

Kavi the owl writes her own nature report, and asks an AI only to check her spelling. When it's done, she doesn't just say "the AI and I made it" — she writes exactly what happened: "I wrote it myself; an AI checked my spelling." "The report is still mine," hoots Kavi, "and saying exactly what the AI did keeps it honest!"

What your child will learn

1Keep it mine, or hand it over?Who does the real work — you or the AI? That is what decides whose work it is. Tap each card to see the clue!
2Honest declaration, or too vague?A good declaration says exactly what the AI did and what you did. A vague one hides it. Drop each into the right box — tap a box for each one!
3Still mine, or the AI's work? Now YOU decide! Ask: who did the real work? If the AI did, it's the AI's — declare it. Pick, then tap to check. Tap Next test for more.

A peek inside

I wrote my report myself, and an AI only fixed my spelling. How do I keep it my own AND stay honest?
Who did the real work? I did — I wrote every sentence. The AI only fixed spelling, which is small help, so the report stays mine. I keep it honest by naming exactly what the AI did.

Try this at home: What is the one question that tells whether work is still your own?

Questions parents ask

+How do I keep my work my own when I use an AI?

Do the real thinking, writing or drawing yourself, and let the AI only help — like checking your spelling or giving one idea you then build on. Ask: 'who did the real work, me or the AI?' If you did, the work stays yours. If the AI wrote it, solved it, or drew it, that part is the AI's, not yours.

+What does it mean to declare AI's help honestly?

It means saying exactly what the AI did and what you did — in plain words, like 'I wrote the report myself; an AI checked my spelling' or 'an AI gave the first idea and I wrote the rest'. A vague line like 'made with a little help' is not enough, because it hides what the AI actually did.

+If an AI only helps a little, is the work still mine?

Yes — if you did the real thinking and making, small help like fixing spelling or reading your work back keeps the work yours. You still declare the help honestly. But if the AI wrote the whole thing or worked out the answer, the AI did the real work, so that part is not your own.

+What age is this 'Keep It My Own' lesson for?

It is a Stage 5 lesson for roughly ages 10–11 — part of KAVI Academy's AI-literacy track. It uses a story, sorting and decision games, with light reading, and goes deeper than the Stage 4 credit lesson by teaching how to write a clear, specific declaration.

+Is the lesson free?

Yes — this overview and the printable PDF handout are free. The full interactive lesson and the endless practice are part of KAVI Academy.
