I can draw the learn-vs-deceive line.

Kavi's Two Doors

Kavi the owl stands before two doors, both opened by the same AI. One door says LEARN — step through and you understand more yourself. The other says DECEIVE — step through and you fool someone into believing what isn't true. "The tool is the same," hoots Kavi, "but the line is clear: am I understanding more, or fooling someone? I always choose the Learn door!"

What your child will learn

1To learn, or to deceive? The same AI can open two doors. One helps YOU understand more. The other fools SOMEONE into believing what isn't true. Tap each card!
2Which side of the line?Drop each one on the right side. Learn builds your own understanding and fools no one. Deceive is meant to make someone believe something false. Tap a box for each!
3Draw the lineNow YOU draw it. Ask: am I understanding more, or fooling someone? Pick, then tap to check. Tap Next test for more.

A peek inside

I don't understand long division, and the test is tomorrow. I ask an AI to explain it step by step, then I practise on my own. Which side of the line am I on?
Ask the line question: am I understanding more, or fooling someone? The AI explained so I could learn it — and I'll do the test myself. No one is fooled; I end up knowing more.

Questions parents ask

+What is the difference between using AI to learn and using AI to deceive?

Using AI to LEARN means you end up understanding more yourself — AI explains a word, gives you practice, or checks your work so you can fix it. Using AI to DECEIVE means you use it to make someone believe something that isn't true — like letting AI take your test so the teacher thinks you know it, or making a fake photo to fool people. The line is: am I understanding more, or am I fooling someone?

+How can a child tell which side of the line they are on?

Ask one question: 'Am I using AI to understand more myself, or to make someone believe something false?' If it builds your own learning and fools no one, it is on the learn side. If it is meant to trick a teacher, a friend, or a crowd, it is on the deceive side — even though the very same AI tool can do both.

+Is it always cheating to use AI for schoolwork?

No. Using AI to explain something, to practise, or to get feedback you then act on is learning — that is honest and allowed when you say how it helped. It becomes deceiving when you hand in AI's work as your own to make the teacher think you did it, because that fools them about what you can really do.
