AI That Helps People
AI can help people in real ways — reading words aloud for someone who can't see them, or turning one language into another so people understand each other.

Kavi Helps a Friend
Kavi the owl visits her friend Bo, who can't see the words on his menu. Kavi opens an AI tool — it looks at the menu and reads every word aloud. "Soup, bread, apple pie!" Bo smiles and picks the pie. Later a visitor speaks a language Bo doesn't know. The same kind of tool turns it into Bo's language so they chat and laugh. "Look at that," hoots Kavi — "AI can really help people: reading words aloud, and turning one language into another!"

Questions parents ask
+What is a real example of AI helping people?
A big one is reading words aloud. If someone can't see the words on a page or a sign, an AI tool can look at them and say them out loud — so the person can hear what it says. Another is translation: AI can turn one language into another so two people who speak different languages can understand each other.
+How does AI help someone who can't see?
An AI tool can look at words — on a page, a menu, or a sign — and read them aloud. It can also describe a photo in words. This lets a person who can't see the words still know what they say or what a picture shows.
+How does AI help people who speak different languages?
AI translation turns words from one language into another. A child in Indonesia and a friend in Japan can type or speak, and the AI turns it into the other person's language — so they understand each other even without sharing a language.
+Does AI only help, or can it get things wrong?
AI really does help people, but it is still a tool that can make mistakes — it may read a word wrong or translate a little oddly. It helps a lot, and a person should still check anything important. Knowing that keeps you the boss of the tool.
+What age is this 'AI That Helps People' lesson for?
It is a Stage 4 lesson for roughly ages 8–9 in KAVI Academy's AI-literacy track. It uses a story, sorting and matching games, with a little more reading than the earlier stages.
+Is the lesson free?
Yes — this overview and the printable PDF handout are free. The full interactive lesson and the endless practice are part of KAVI Academy.
