Kavi Keeps It Kind

Kavi the owl and her friends are making posters with an AI tool. One owl giggles, "Let's make a silly MEAN one of Bo!" Kavi stops. "That would hurt Bo's feelings," she hoots. "AI is for helping — let's make Bo a welcome card instead!" Soon everyone is smiling, even Bo. "Help, don't harm," says Kavi, "and never leave a friend out."

A peek inside

A new classmate just joined and feels shy. How could I use an AI tool to HELP them feel welcome?
Ask: will this help, or could it hurt? Welcoming someone helps. So I use AI for a kind job — maybe make a cheerful welcome poster, or translate a friendly "hello" into their language so they feel included.

Questions parents ask

+How can kids use AI to help instead of harm?

Use AI for kind, helpful jobs: make a poster that welcomes everyone, explain a lesson a new way for a friend, translate a friendly hello for a new classmate, or design a thank-you card. Never use it to be mean — no making fun pictures of people, faking nasty messages, tricking or scaring anyone — and never to leave a friend out. Before you press go, ask one quick question: will this help someone, or could it hurt or leave someone out?

+Why shouldn't a child use AI to be mean to someone?

Because AI can make pictures and messages that look very real, so a 'joke' can really hurt a person's feelings or even fool people. Hurting someone is wrong whether you use AI or not — and AI makes it faster and easier, so you have to be even more careful. The tool is for helping people, not harming them.

+What does it mean to not leave people out with AI?

Sometimes AI is used to make games, quizzes or group chats. A kind choice makes them so EVERYONE can join. Using AI to shut one kid out — a game only some can play, a chat that leaves a friend out — hurts that person. Good use of AI brings people in, it doesn't push them out.
