The Honest Path

An AI can do your whole task for you — but then you learn nothing and it isn't really yours. The honest path: do the thinking yourself, and let AI only help.

I can choose honesty over letting AI do it all.

Kavi's Hard Homework

Kavi the owl has a tricky maths page and she's tired. "I could just ask the AI to do all of it," she thinks. But then she stops. "If the AI does it all, I won't learn a thing — and it wouldn't really be mine." So she tries it herself first, and asks the AI only for a hint when she's stuck. "The honest path is harder," hoots Kavi, "but now I can really do it!"

A peek inside

My maths page is hard and I'm tempted to ask the AI to do it all. What is the honest path?
Am I still doing the thinking? If the AI does it all, no — and I won't learn. The honest path is to try it myself first, and ask the AI only for a hint if I get stuck.

Questions parents ask

+Is it OK to use AI for my homework?

It depends how you use it. The honest path is to do the thinking yourself and let AI only help — give you a hint, check your work, or explain something you don't get. Letting AI do the whole task while you copy means you learn nothing and the work isn't really yours.

+What is the difference between AI helping and AI doing it all?

AI is helping when you do the real work and it gives you a hint, checks your answer, or explains an idea — you still learn and the work is yours. AI is doing it all when it makes the whole thing and you just copy it. The honest path keeps you in charge of the thinking.

+Why not just let AI do all of it?

Because then you don't learn, you can't really do it yourself next time, and saying it's your work isn't honest. The honest path is harder in the moment, but it is how you actually get better — and you can be proud of what you did.
