Meeting My First AI Tool
The first time you meet a new AI tool, meet it WITH a grown-up, keep private things private — and remember YOU stay in charge.

Kavi's First Hello
A shiny new AI helper pops up on the tablet. "Ooh — can I try it?" hoots Kavi the owl. First she calls Dad over. "Yes, let's set it up together," he says — that's the ground rule. The tool asks, "What's your home address?" Kavi stops. "That's private — a helper doesn't need that!" She types a fun question instead. "I met it with a grown-up, I kept private things private, and I'm still in charge," says Kavi. "That's how you meet a new tool!"

Questions parents ask
+How should a child meet a new AI tool for the first time?
With a grown-up. Before using a new AI tool, a child should have a trusted grown-up say yes and help set it up — never meet a new tool alone. Then follow the ground rules: keep private things private (no real name, address, school or photo), remember the AI is a helper so YOU stay in charge, and if anything feels wrong, scary or strange, stop and tell a grown-up.
+What are the ground rules for using an AI tool safely?
Four simple rules for kids: (1) Ask a grown-up first — a grown-up says yes and helps you start. (2) Keep private things private — no real name, home address, school or photo. (3) You stay in charge — the AI is a helper, and you decide what to do. (4) If it feels wrong, tell a grown-up — something scary or strange means stop and tell someone you trust.
+Why shouldn't kids type private things into an AI tool?
A helper tool does not need to know who you are or where you live. Your real name, home address, school and photos are private. Keeping them private helps keep you safe, because you can't always know where that information goes. A grown-up can help you decide what is safe to share.
