Kavi Takes a Break

Kavi the owl plays her tablet game for a long, long time. Her eyes feel tired and her wings feel wobbly. "Hmm," she hoots, "I've had LOTS of screen time." She puts the tablet down, flies outside, flaps her wings, and rests her eyes on the green trees. Soon she feels bright and strong again. "Screens are fun," says Kavi, "but my body and eyes need real play and rest too. The trick is balance — some screen time, then a break!"

I've been playing a 🎮 screen game for a long time and my eyes feel tired. What should I do?
Tired eyes are a sign I've had lots of screen time. My eyes and body need a break away from the screen.

Questions parents ask

+How can kids balance screen time with real life?

Enjoy some screen time, then take a break for real play and rest. A simple rhythm helps: watch or play on a screen for a while, then get up, move your body, rest your eyes, and do something off the screen — go outside, read a paper book, build, or just sit and rest. A healthy day has both screen time AND real-life time.

+Why do children need breaks from screens?

Staring at a screen for a long time can make your eyes tired and your body restless. Breaks let your eyes rest, let your body move and grow strong, and give your mind time for real play, friends and quiet rest. Breaks are not a punishment — they keep screen time fun and healthy.

+What age is this 'Balance Screen Time' lesson for?

It is a Stage 3 lesson for roughly ages 8–9 — part of KAVI Academy's AI-literacy track. It uses a story, sorting and decision games with light reading.

+Why teach screen-time balance as AI literacy?

The machines children use — tablets, games and AI helpers — are built to be fun and easy to keep using. Kids need an early habit of noticing when they have had enough, taking breaks, and keeping real play, movement and rest in their day. Balance is a key part of using any machine wisely.
