Kavi Makes a Plan

Kavi the owl wants to make a poster for the school garden. She almost taps the AI tool right away — then stops. "Plan first!" she hoots. She grabs paper: 1) what — a garden poster, 2) how it should look — green with a big sunflower, 3) her steps in order. Now she starts the tool. Because she planned first, the poster comes out just how she pictured it!

2Before I start, or while I use it?Some things belong in your plan — you do them BEFORE you start. Others happen WHILE you use the tool. Tap a bin for each one!

A peek inside

I want to make a garden poster with an AI tool. What do I do first?
I plan first. I decide what I want (a garden poster), picture how it should look (green, with a sunflower), and list my steps — before I start the tool.

Questions parents ask

+Why should a child plan before using an AI tool?

Because a plan keeps you in charge. Before you start, you decide what you want to make, picture how it should look, and list your steps. Then the tool helps you reach a goal you already chose — instead of you just taking whatever it gives.

+What does a good plan include?

Three things: what you want to make, what the finished thing should look like, and the steps you'll take in order. With that plan ready, the tool becomes a helper, not the boss.

+Isn't it faster to just start the tool?

Starting without a plan often means lots of re-dos. A quick plan first usually gets you a result you like faster — because you know what you're aiming for before you begin.
