Kavi's Big-Word Answer

Kavi the owl asks a helper, "Why is the sky blue?" The helper gives a BIG answer full of words like scatter and wavelength. Kavi blinks — she doesn't understand a single bit! She almost copies it anyway… then stops. "If I can't explain it, I didn't learn it." So she asks, "Can you say that simpler?" Now it makes sense — and Kavi tells it in her own words. "That's the trick: understand, don't copy!"

A peek inside

A helper gives me an answer with the word "evaporate" and I don't know it. What should I do first?
I shouldn't copy a word I can't explain. I ask what "evaporate" means, or ask a grown-up, until it makes sense.

Try this at home: If you can't explain an answer in your own words, should you copy it?

Questions parents ask

+Why shouldn't kids copy an AI answer they don't understand?

Because copying skips the learning. If you can't explain an answer in your own words, you haven't learned it — and it might even be wrong. Understanding first means you actually grow smarter and can catch mistakes.

+What should a child do when an AI uses words they don't know?

Ask for it to be explained more simply, or ask a grown-up, until it makes sense. Then say the idea in your own words. That way you understand it instead of just copying it.

+What age is this 'Understand, Don't Copy' lesson for?

It is a Stage 3 lesson for roughly ages 7–9 in KAVI Academy's AI-literacy track. It uses a story, sorting and choice games, with light reading.

+Isn't using AI the same as cheating?

No — using AI to help you understand is smart. The problem is copying an answer you can't explain and calling it your own. Learn from the helper, then do the thinking yourself.

+Is the lesson free?

Yes — this overview and the printable PDF handout are free. The full interactive lesson and the endless practice are part of KAVI Academy.
