Sense, Think, Act
A robot senses the world, works out what to do, then acts — round and round!

Kavi Meets a Robot
Kavi the owl watches a little robot vacuum. Its sensor feels a wall ahead — that's sense. The robot's chip works out: "turn away!" — that's think. Then its wheels turn and it drives on — that's act. "Sense, think, act," hoots Kavi, "round and round — that's how a robot works!"

Questions parents ask
+How does a robot work?
A robot does three things in a loop: it SENSES the world with a camera or a sensor, it THINKS to work out what to do, then it ACTS — it moves or grabs. Then it senses again, round and round. That is the sense–think–act loop.
+How does a robot sense the world?
With sensors. A camera lets it see, a microphone lets it hear, and a touch or distance sensor lets it feel what is near. The sensor turns the world into signals the robot can use.
+Does a robot think like a person?
No. It follows rules very fast. When a sensor sees something, the robot works out what to do using its rules — like 'if there is a wall ahead, turn away'. It is not feeling or wondering; it is following a plan.
