Kavi's Big Secret

Kavi the owl has a secret 🤫 and a talking machine on the desk. "Should I tell the machine my secret?" Kavi stops to think. "The machine can help me — it can answer questions and play a song. But it does not care about me like a real friend. It is a helper, not a friend." So Kavi keeps the secret safe and shares it with a grown-up Kavi trusts. "Private things stay private!"

Questions parents ask

+Is a machine or AI assistant my child's friend?

No. A machine like a voice assistant or chatbot can help answer questions and do tasks, but it does not care about your child the way a real friend or family member does. It is a helper, not a friend — so private things and secrets should not be told to it.

+What should kids not tell a machine or chatbot?

Keep private things private: full name and address, passwords, phone numbers, photos, and family secrets or worries. A simple rule for kids: if it is private or a secret, don't type it to a machine — tell a grown-up you trust instead.

+What is okay for a child to ask a machine?

Safe, non-private questions are fine with a grown-up's okay — like 'what is 5 + 5?', 'tell me a story about a dragon', or 'how do caterpillars change?'. The machine helps with the task; it just should not be told secrets or private information.
