Count and Check
Count the paws, fingers and wheels — a wrong number can catch a made-up picture!

The Dog With Too Many Legs
Kavi the owl sees a picture of a puppy and giggles. "Something is funny here!" Kavi counts the legs — one, two, three, four, FIVE. "Five legs? A real dog has only four! A computer made this picture and got the number wrong." Kavi winks: "When a picture looks odd, count and check — the number can catch a fake!"

Questions parents ask
+How can a child tell if a picture is fake or AI-made?
One of the easiest tricks is to count. Real things have set numbers — a hand has 5 fingers, a dog has 4 legs, a car has 4 wheels. If the count is wrong (6 fingers, 5 legs, 3 wheels), the picture is probably made-up by a computer.
+Why do AI pictures get the number wrong?
A computer that draws pictures copies patterns but does not truly count. So it often adds an extra finger or leaves off a wheel. Counting is a simple, powerful way for children to catch these mistakes.
+What age is this 'Count and Check' lesson for?
It is a Stage 2 lesson for roughly ages 6–7 in KAVI Academy's AI-literacy track. It uses counting games children already know, so no new reading is needed.
+Why teach counting as AI literacy?
Learning that machines make mistakes — and that you can check their work — is a core AI-literacy idea. Counting gives children a concrete, confident way to question a picture instead of believing everything they see.
+Is the lesson free?
Yes — this overview and the printable PDF handout are free. The full interactive lesson and the endless practice are part of KAVI Academy.
