It Can 'See'
A machine can look at a picture and guess what is in it. Let's see how it guesses!

Kavi's Picture Guess
Kavi the owl holds up a photo of a cat 🐱 to a little machine. The machine looks at the ears, whiskers and furry face and beeps: "Cat!" "Wow — it looked at the picture and made a guess," hoots Kavi. "A machine can look at a picture and guess what is in it. Let's see how!"

Questions parents ask
+How does a machine 'see' a picture?
A machine does not see the way your eyes do. It looks at the colors and shapes in a picture and matches them to pictures it has seen before, then it makes a guess — like 'cat!'. For kids: the machine looks for clues in the picture and guesses what is there.
+Can a machine guess what is in any picture?
It can guess when the picture is clear and it has seen similar pictures before. If the picture is blurry, dark, or something it has never seen, its guess can be wrong. A machine guesses — it does not really know.
+What age is this 'It Can See' lesson for?
It is a Stage 2 lesson for roughly ages 6–7 in KAVI Academy's AI-literacy track. It uses a story and picture games, with very little reading required.
+Why teach how machines see pictures?
Cameras, phones and apps use picture-guessing every day. Knowing a machine looks for clues and makes a guess — and can be wrong — helps children use these tools wisely. It is a core idea in AI literacy.
+Is the lesson free?
Yes — this overview and the printable PDF handout are free. The full interactive lesson and the endless practice are part of KAVI Academy.
